Understand Chinese by using it! Just point your mouse over Chinese text and the LiveScan™ window explains the Chinese text. Hear words spoken aloud in Mandarin Chinese. See the meaning and usage notes explained in English—or your favorite language.
iNterpret shows over 100,000 meanings of words and phrases from Loqu8 CC-CEDICT, the world's most popular Chinese-English dictionary. Since this dictionary is installed on your computer, it's always available--even when your Internet connection is slow or unavailable.
Understand a range of Chinese text
When you want to understand many words, just highlight to open the HighlightScan™ window. The top panel shows auto-translations into English. The center reading panel uses rubytext formatting to show Chinese with Pinyin. Point at any word or phrase to see details in the bottom panel.
Display only the details you want
Personalize the LiveScan, HighlightScan and other windows with only the information you want. For example if the text is Simplified Chinese, enabling "Alternate" will display Traditional Chinese characters, too. If English isn't your best language, let Multi-language Extensions™ (MLX) auto-translate meanings into another language for you.

Point at Chinese text and the LiveScan window opens and auto-pronounces each word in Mandarin Chinese. LiveScan works with Chinese text that can be selected or copied to the clipboard; Chinese graphics and video are not supported.

Tips
Loqu8 iCE uses five different colors to represent each of the 5 tones in Mandarin Chinese. Words with similar Pinyin "spellings" may have very different pronunciations. ColorTones™ makes it easier to spot differences (as shown above).
