Q1: What's new in version 5.5?
A: iCE 5.5 is a significant feature upgrade with multi-language
extensions (MLX) for fast, auto-translations of
Chinese text into English and 55 other languages. Users with
text-based PDF documents will now be able to use iCE's powerful
LiveScan and HighlightScan capabilities; image-based PDF documents
are not supported. Ruby text is a powerful new way to learn Chinese;
just paste into Excel and Pinyin is automatically aligned with the
Chinese text.
Q2: Do you support Windows 7 and 64-bit?
A: Yes, iCE version 5.50 now supports both x86 (16-bit) and x64
(64-bit) versions of Microsoft Windows 7 and Vista.
Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 is required.
Q3: Is this a free upgrade?
A: Yes, version 5.5 is free for both trial and paid customers.
Q1: What's new in version 5?
A: iCE is now based upon Loqu8's most powerful knowledge management
engine, iNtuition. This new engine supports the two most popular web
browsers (Microsoft IE 7 and Mozilla Firefox 3) and Microsoft Office
(Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
The user interface has been expanded to accommodate the separate, resizable windows for both LiveScan translations and Lookup Chinese/Pinyin-English dictionary.
Q2: How do I upgrade to version 5?
A: All paid users of earlier iCE (iNterpret Chinese-English) versions may upgrade to version
5 at no
charge.
Q3: What are the system requirements?
A: iCE is optimized for Microsoft Windows Vista and Internet
Explorer. Apple Macintosh Mac OS X users running Windows Vista/XP
with VMware Fusion or Parallels Desktop are also supported.
For Windows XP users should have SP3) and
Microsoft
.NET Framework 3.5
SP1 (free) with
Chinese
fonts (free). For the pronunciation feature, your computer will
also need to support audio speakers or a headset.
Q4: I see "squares" instead of Chinese
in my browser. What's wrong?
A: If you're seeing small squares when you should be seeing Chinese,
then you need to: (A) with Windows XP, enable East Asian language
support and (B) install a Chinese font.
For Windows XP
A. Enable Asian
language support
1. Under Control Panel, select Regional and Language
Options
2. Select the Language tab and check "Install files for East Asian
languages" (you may need your original Windows CD)
3. Restart your machine. (C'est la vie avec MSFT.)
Tip: Microsoft also provides
detailed instructions.
B. Install Chinese fonts
1.
Download a Chinese font (AR PL New Sung)
2. Double-click to open the
fireflysung.zip file
3. Open your Windows Control Panel and open the Fonts folder
4. Drag the fireflysung.ttf
file to your Fonts folder
For Windows Vista

fireflysung.zip file

Q5: The Pronounce feature is not
available. Why not?
A: Simplified Chinese Text-to-Speech (TTS) is now installed
automatically with iNterpret Version 3. If you have installed a
pre-release version of software (before April 21, 2008), then
uninstall iCE and re-install using setup.exe.
Q6. Does Loqu8 support Microsoft Windows 7?
A: Yes, iCE Version 5.3 (and later) adds support for
Windows 7 in both 32-bit (x86) and 64-bit (x64) modes. iCE runs as a
32-bit application on Windows 7 64-bit.
